Beefier LEDs
LEDs (light emitting diodes) are getting brighter and more effective. Truck-Lite has incorporated LED technology from Hewlett-Packard into its latest model 15 clearance/marker lamps. Truck-Lite's 2.5-inch-long, 1.2-inch-high amber lamp uses just three LEDs to meet all DOT and FMVSS requirements. The red lamp needs only one LED. Each lamp draws only 0.05 amp, compared to the 1 to 1.5 amps that most bulbs use.
