Road King magazine has won five awards, including three top-place honors, in regional competition sponsored by the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE).

The top winners were automatically entered in the national ASBPE contest, and Road King was notified that we will pick up at least one award in that competition. Exact results won't be announced until late June, after this issue goes to press.

Road King took top honors for the following:

• Best Single News Article: "Truck Tech 2000," Nov.-Dec. 1999, by Editor Tom Berg, Senior Technical Editor Paul Abelson and Editorial Director Bill Hudgins.

• Graphic Excellence, front cover photo: Jan.-Feb. 1999 "Wild Roads" photo of Alaskan truckers Del and Tom McAlpine by Mike Mathers.

• Graphic Excellence, front cover non-photo: May-June 1999 "Fit for the Road" illustration by Dan Brawner.

Road King also took second place in two categories:

• Editorial Excellence, regular department: "Rig Review" by Tom Berg.

• Graphic Excellence, opening page or spread: "Truck Tech 2000," Nov.-Dec. 1999 illustration by Natasha Tibbott.

The contest covered 1999 issues and Road King competed against other magazines with circulations above 80,000.
