The Fifth Annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show on Sept. 15-17 drew more than 140 premium show trucks to St. Ignace, Mich. Spectators gawked at the rigs during the day and braved a cold wind on Saturday night, Sept. 16, to cheer as the rigs formed a convoy more than 8 miles long over and back across the Mackinac Straits Bridge.

For the past two years, Road King magazine has sponsored the Parade of Lights that winds over the 5-mile long bridge, through Mackinac City and back into St. Ignace for a static light show.

Vocational trucks were prominent in the parade. High winds slowed the convoy to a crawl: Some trucks near the end reached the bridge as the leaders started back. The truck show began as part of a classic car event organized by local auto buff and promoter, Ed Reavie.

Held the second weekend after Labor Day, St. Ignace is one of the largest truck "beauty" contests. Participants vie for cash and prizes and raise money for charity. It's sponsored by the National Association of Show Trucks (NAST).
