Phillips Industries, a major supplier to truck and trailer builders (www.phillipsind.com), recently introduced three new electrical system products and a new gladhand.
Phillips says its PFM 3.01 Filter Module eliminates electrical system interference that can be generated by the PLC4Trucks system for alerting drivers to a trailer ABS failure. The filter is integrated into Phillips' 7-way receptacle wiring harness and separates the PLC signal from the DC current. The filter can also protect the PLC system from interference created by electrically powered devices such as blower motors.
Truckstop electrification is coming, if slowly. Phillips' QP Shore Power connection system includes an external receptacle for 120-volt AC power, cable TV and telephone. Junction boxes inside allow drivers to run appliances, watch the tube, talk on the phone or surf the Web. The system is sold as a kit of components through truck manufacturers at present, but will likely be on the aftermarket later this year.
The QCS (Quick Connect System) Flange Electrical Harness trailer wiring system is engineered to prevent accidental disconnects and to create a watertight seal. Phillips says the system installs quickly and has individual plugs for maximum flexibility.
Phillips' Latch-It Gladhand is designed to prevent accidental disconnects that can disable trailer brakes. Made of die-cast zinc plated to resist corrosion, it has a stainless steel spring for longer dependable service.
