After a lifetime of trying to crack the music industry, former truck driver Leland Martin could become an overnight success with the release of his first album, "Simply Traditional" in August on indie label IGO Records. The first single and video, "Stone Cold Fingers" will be released July 15.
If you've trucked for a while, you'll identify with the driver in "Stone Cold Fingers" as he ponders all he's given up to be a trucker. But he knows "I can't give up, it's in my blood," and he'll stop only "when they pry my stone cold fingers from the wheel."
Trucking radio DJ Dave Nemo has called "Stone Cold Fingers" the best new trucking song he's heard in many years, with its catchy road-wise rhythm and true-to-the-bone story. The album includes ballads, honky-tonk, a gospel song and a couple of original Christmas tunes. Some of the video was shot at the Ridgetop Truck Stop at exit 104 off I-65 in Tennessee. You can buy an advance copy of the album online for $13.99 for CD or cassette at www.trucksongs.com or www.LelandMartin.com. The album will also be available at Wal-Mart and many truckstops after its release.
