No Small Beans Starbucks may soon rival McDonald's for expansion
If you love your cup of java, you're not alone.
Seattle-based Starbucks has 6,500 stores - including one at the Lodi, Ohio TA - and a new store opens once every eight hours. Do the math, and you'll see that's 100 new stores opening every month and at least 1,200 new stores this year. The company expects a record $4 billion in coffee, tea and merchandise sales this year alone. In 10 years, the company aims to have 25,000 stores worldwide, rivaling McDonald's current 28,000 restaurants. No wonder we're all jittery.
