- 1940 World War II spurs development of 27 MHz equipment for use in tanks and beachhead landing networks.
- 1948 The FCC issued the first certificate of approval for equipment to be used in the Citizens Radio Service. The model 100-B designed by Citizens Radio Corp. becomes the world's first approved CB radio.
