Copy That
CB craze launched ad blitz

Everyone suddenly wanted a CB radio in 1975, thanks to the "Convoy" song. Marketers answered the call with advertising extolling the virtues of the citizens band radios for everyone from shut-ins to teens.

Milestones in CB History

  • 1933 Experimental station W6XB Yuma AZ operates at 27.1 MHz
  • 1940 World War II spurs development of 27 MHz equipment for use in tanks and beachhead landing networks.
  • 1948 The FCC issued the first certificate of approval for equipment to be used in the Citizens Radio Service. The model 100-B designed by Citizens Radio Corp. becomes the world's first approved CB radio.
