Passenger Side Sofa?
You won't see it in North America for a while, if ever, but Mack's European parent company, Renault, offers a cab with a sofa in place of the passenger seat. The layout of what it calls a single cab effectively turns the passenger side into the sleeper area. It's high enough for a driver to stand without stooping, and without the passenger seat, gives the driver some cozy living room that's adequate for Europe's short "long" hauls. The sofa is set against the back of the cab and behind the driver's seat; it converts into a bunk or can be used as a passenger seat if necessary. There are drawers and other storage spaces, a multidirectional reading light, and a sliding tray table built into the sofa for meals or paperwork. A storage area under the retractable table can also house an optional refrigerator.
