Ron and Billie Johnston, the operators of two TravelCenters of America facilities in Sweetwater and Edinburg, Texas, will celebrate their 30th Wedding Anniversary on September 28.

They met at the Barkeyville, Pa., site - known as Old Stop 8. Ron's brother Cal was the General Manager, Ron supervised the store and fuel and Billie worked as the restaurant supervisor. Following a supervisor's meeting, one of Ron's friends wanted to meet one of Billie's friends, so the four of them went out for a lobster dinner.

Ron's friend was called away, leaving Ron in charge. The rest is history. Ron and Billie fell in love, got married and had two daughters, Shelby and Aubrey. In 1980 they moved to Edinburg and Ron and Hugh Schmieder became partners in the Edinburg TA. They moved north to open the Sweetwater, Texas, facility in 1991. Both daughters work in the accounting department at Sweetwater. Aubrey's husband, Scott, is the director of special projects for both Edinburg and Sweetwater.
