Medium-duty 'Star
Western Star Trucks' new model 3700 Class 7 truck is its entry in the fast-growing medium-duty market. It's available in 6x4 and 4x2 configurations. The 6x4 will have available wheelbases of 176 and 194 inches; Caterpillar 3126B engines with 250 to 300 hp are standard. Its front axle capacity will range from 12,000 to 20,000 pounds and rear tandems, from 40,000 to 46,000 pounds. The 4x2 version will have optional 223-, 245- and 259-inch wheelbases and a Cat 3126B rated at 210 to 300 hp; front axle capacity of 8,000 to 18,000 pounds; and rear, from 19,000 to 23,000 pounds. The 3700 is aimed at vocational operations.
