'18 Wheels of Hope' Restructured

Comdata has revamped its 18 Wheels of Hope campaign and moved all donation solicitations to the Internet. America's Second Harvest, which last year replaced Feed the Children Inc. as the charitable beneficiary, will continue to seek food donations over Comdata's LoadMatcher load board. Comdata will no longer directly solicit food donations.

"While 18 Wheels of Hope has been a major success for the trucking industry as a whole, funding an event of this magnitude is prohibitive unless industry participation increases," said Comdata President Gary Krow.

"We are only responding to the wishes of the industry that we simplify the program and make it easier for more companies to participate," he added. "We think by offering our LoadMatcher service as a logistics tool for food donations, we will be able to accomplish more for the charitable beneficiary." Those interested in participating should contact America's Second Harvest at (312) 263-2303.
