The TravelCenter of America found west of Jacksonville, Fla., is a popular layover stop for truckers in northern Florida.
It's about to become even more so.
That's because the Baldwin TA is undergoing a complete remodel, starting with a new Arby's, scheduled to open this month. The Arby's provides a fast food alternative to the existing Town & Country Restaurant.
"This is a popular stop for truckers and the remodel will make it easier to serve them and get them back on the road," says Russell Windsor, general manager of the TA located off I-10. "We won't close down at all during the construction."
In addition to the remodeling, the Town & Country Restaurant will undergo a facelift, with a new Americana theme. "We want to use lot of red, white and blue and really spruce it up," Windsor says.
The square footage of the travel store will almost double after the renovations, giving more space for supplies and product displays. Truckers will still be able to do their laundry, catch a shower or take a break in the drivers' lounge while the remodeling continues.
As for truck services, drivers can find two truck service bays at the Baldwin TA, as well as one outside bay devoted to tires and tire services. There's also Freightliner ServicePoint(SM) and emergency road services available.
