Iron Insect
Owners of old VW Beetles tend to be a little crazy about them, but few can match Jose Flores of Juarez, Mexico, who fashioned a wrought-iron body for his 1963 Bug. Flores operates a wrought-iron and blown-glass craft shop. He found the VW in a salvage yard, removed the original body and used it as a template to shape the iron rods. It runs, but Flores has to head for cover when it rains to avoid a bad case of rust. (Photo: Elwin Trump)
