Iowa 80 Celebrates The Big 4-0

The IOWA 80 Truckstop in Walcott celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with special drivers' pricing on different items each month. Iowa 80 was built and opened by Standard Oil in 1964 with two diesel pumps, one lube bay and a small restaurant. Today, as a TA franchise, Iowa 80 boasts a 300-seat restaurant with a 50-foot buffet, a 12,000-square-foot Truckers' Warehouse Store, 23 private showers, 60-seat movie theater, driver's den with fireplace, two game rooms, a barber shop, dentist, travel store, Wendy's, Dairy Queen, Blimpie, TA service center and 16 diesel pumps. Since 1979, the site has hosted the Walcott Truckers Jamboree, a two-day truckers' appreciation celebration.
