Hard to believe, but a great deal of thought has actually gone into whether Americans prefer to eat their ice cream from a cup or a cone.

The results: 65% of Americans prefer their ice cream in a cup.

The polling company Harris Interactive conducted the survey for (no surprise here) Dairy Queen®. Other findings:

• 53% of Americans said they add dipped coating or syrups to their ice cream.
• 78% of Americans eat ice cream at least once a month.
