Steve Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick Transportation, was named chairman of the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
Williams formed Maverick with one truck in 1980 with friend and co-worker Larry Leahy. Williams is now 100 percent owner of the largest privately held trucking company in Arkansas.
Today, Maverick operates over 900 trucks, providing flatbed services to the steel and building material industries nationwide.
"We need to do a better job as an industry anticipating the challenges that we will face in the years ahead," said Williams, who was named to the ATA post at the organization's recent annual convention.
The ATA represents and promotes the interests of the trucking industry throughout the country. Find out more at www.trucking.org.
