Car-stealers tend to favor family cars, according to the most recent study from the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
The NICB tracks all vehicles reported by law enforcement agencies as stolen each year. For the second year in a row, the Toyota Camry topped the list as the most-stolen vehicle. The most commonly stolen truck is the Chevrolet Silverado Full-Size Pickup.
In the most recent data available, a total of 1.2 million motor vehicles were stolen in 2002, a slight increase over 2001.
Although there's no clear reason why thieves prefer one vehicle over others, the data suggests some cars are stolen for their parts.
