When I took the helm at TravelCenters of America 13 years ago, we were a regional chain of 44 truckstops. Today, as I prepare to hand over the CEO position and the running of the day-to-day business, we've grown into an international network of more than 160 full-service travel centers. And drivers like you are the reason why.
Throughout my tenure at TA, I've traveled to our different locations and regularly talked to drivers. Through you, I've heard what you like about what we do, and what you'd like to see us change. Much of TA's expansion in services and products was a result of these conversations.Through drivers, I heard about new products and services you needed: data ports, wireless Internet access, healthier food choices and electronics. I heard that you wanted to be rewarded for choosing to fuel at TA, so we launched the RoadKing Club™, which has become the premier frequent-fueler program in the industry.
Over the years, we've continued to add locations, to give you more choices when you're on the road. We've updated our look with a $300 million reimaging initiative that makes it easier for you to get the services and products you need and get back on the road.
As I step down from my post of CEO, I will still be keeping an ear open to hear your new ideas and suggestions. Through the years, TA has led through innovation, which has been fueled by you, the driver. That's a trend I'm confident will continue.
