Clayton, Indiana TA a welcome rest spot for drivers

For 36 years, Don Thompson has helped welcome drivers to the Clayton TA, about 14 miles west of Indianapolis.

"I enjoy working with the truckers," says Thompson, general manager at the TA found at Exit 59 off I-70, at State Road 39.

Thompson has seen many changes since he opened in 1969, including the computerization of payments and fueling, and the emphasis on electronics stocked in the travel store.

"We have lots of big rigs and four-wheel traffic, but also get plenty of local business," Thompson says. "The main thing that has changed is we do so much more volume now."

"We've had several renovations over the years," Thompson says. "We're always working to improve."
