Every spring, the Specialty Equipment Market Association holds a wildly popular trade show for regional auto and truck parts businesses. Attendees at the Spring Expo can pore over the latest in truck caps and accessories, automotive trim and restyling products, wheels and tires, gauges and instruments, and performance parts. What more could anyone ask for?
How about a second show, right across from the first? This year SEMA Offroad, designed for the sand sports, rock crawling, mud bogging and desert racing enthusiasts, made its debut.
Hundreds of tons of dirt and boulders were brought in to the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis to construct an indoor proving ground for offroad vehicles outfitted with SEMA member equipment. Then the drivers were let loose to demonstrate. It's a dirty business, but they love doing it.
