Blade Runner
This W900L's a cut above.
By Bill Hudgins

The name 'Razor's Edge' comes from an AC/DC song. It's such a sharp truck that the name just seemed to fit naturally," says Russ Brown as he and his wife Debbie point out the features of their glorious 1999 W900L Kenworth. It gleams sharply white in the sunshine, with purple and blue accents that fairly glow.

The Browns are leased to CRST out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and pull 53-foot dry vans coast to coast. "We don't sit a lot. We average 6,500 to 7,000 miles a week as a team," Debbie says.

So it makes sense to log those miles in this roomy, 275-inch wheelbase road tractor with its 86-inch Studio Sleeper customized by Eagle Interiors of Oklahoma City. The sleeper's done up in red oak and sports a TV, VCR, fridge and microwave powered through a 1,500-watt inverter. The dash also is done in stainless steel and red oak, and sparkles with shiny toggle switches, pedals and shifter knob.

White and purple accents continue the exterior color scheme, and a straight razor design worked into the custom-made floor mats matches the old-fashioned shaver painted on the hood.

Under the hood resides a 500-hp Detroit Diesel running through a 13-speed transmission and 3.55 rears. More chrome, including Lifetime Lugnut nut covers and sleek Panelite Millennium lights, sparkle on the exterior of the vehicle.

"The truck goes down the road the way you see it," say the Browns, who regularly win at truck shows. "We just clean it up for the shows."
