Make the Trip
If you’ve never made the trip to Louisville, Kentucky, to attend the Mid-America Trucking Show, or MATS, I highly recommend putting it on your to-do list. You just won’t find the sheer number of people who share a passion for trucking in any one spot at any other time of year.
It’s one of my favorite events for a lot of reasons, almost all related to the opportunity to learn what will be coming your way next and how we need to adapt to help you best. MATS is a place where drivers; truck, engine, trailer and other equipment manufacturers; suppliers; and trucking company recruiters can discuss everything. Some have learned more during a day at MATS than they could in weeks of reading industry news and blogs because all of the industry’s best companies are there, represented by their most knowledgeable folks.
The TA and Petro booth (19156) will include a crew of employees who are ready to take your suggestions for ways we can continue to improve. TA and Petro are the only truly full-service truck stop chains in America. Your input and feedback has shaped all we do to provide you with the best full-service truck stops on the highway.
From big-picture initiatives like $400 million invested in capital improvements and world-class customer service led by our employees and our industry-leading UltraONE™ driver rewards program, to more modest undertakings like our Dream Team of Clean shower program, StayFit wellness program and TruckSmart® smartphone application, to details like leaving a mint for you in a sparkling clean shower — all of these efforts are directed at making sure your experience as our guest is the best you have ever had. That’s what you deserve.
At MATS in 2010, an UltraONE Platinum member told me that I needed to pay more attention to our guest laundry facilities. This month we will complete our laundry upgrades, with all new washers and dryers, new folding tables and hanging racks. Even our washers and dryers know about good customer service — they can send you a text message when your laundry is done!
We have a lot of ideas for the future. But we want you to tell us what other good ideas we should add. And of all of them, which ones you
need next. It’s up to you.
Stop by our booth at MATS, or call us at 1-800-632-9240 and tell us about our future.
TA celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. We’ve come a long way and constantly work toward offering more to our customers. In this milestone year, together with Petro we are proud to be the first and only full-service network for highway travelers.
TA is making the chore of cleaning your clothes on the road a little bit easier. Most of the company’s washers and dryers now have a payment station that allows drivers the option of using a credit or debit card, in addition to cash payment.
The station can notify drivers via text message when their washer and dryer cycles are completed. There are also new folding tables, hanging racks and more.
Meet Us at MATS
If you will be attending the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., this year, be sure to stop by the TA and Petro booth (19156). You can chat with senior technical trainer Homer Hogg, a regular guest on the Dave Nemo Show (Road Dog Trucking, SiriusXM radio), about truck maintenance. Plus there will always be TA and Petro representatives from all areas of the company, who can answer your questions, help you solve problems and take your suggestions about services or products you would like to see at our locations.
Of course, if you just want to stop by to share in some fun and games, there will plenty of those kinds of activities going on during our stay in Louisville as well. The Mid-America Trucking Show takes place March 22-24 at the Kentucky expo.

RoadSquad Gets Even Better
With more than 400 service trucks across the country, RoadSquad 24-hour emergency roadside assistance was already fast and reliable. Now all its service trucks have GPS tracking technology, with mile marker mapping included. That means getting straight to the distressed vehicle in the least amount of time. Technicians are notified immediately if they are off-route or need to be rerouted. Being able to pinpoint a truck’s location allows RoadSquad to provide a more exact time of arrival, as well as detailed information on all aspects of repair including routing, exact mileage, drive time and repair time.

Thank You for Your Generosity
There’s no heart as big as a trucker’s heart. During the 2011 Band Together for SCF fundraising drive, TA and Petro customers and employees donated $212,538 to St. Christopher Truckers Development Relief Fund (SCF). Those who donated received a commemorative Band Together wristband — blue bands were given at TA locations and green bands were given at Petro locations.
SCF gives financial aid to drivers who are dealing with medical issues, whether to take care of fees related to their healthcare or for household expenses that fall behind due to lost income.
TA Livingston, Calif., now has Fresh Healthy Café, a quick-service eatery that offers wholesome wraps, panninis, hearty soups and salads, all made with fresh fruits and vegetables. The menu options also include smoothies, organic coffees and teas, and fresh-squeezed juices. The Petro in Kingsland, Ga. opened a Fresh Healthy Café in 2011.
Take a Walk!
As part of our StayFit program, TA and Petro are proud sponsors of the Health Awareness Walk, at MATS by the Trucker Solutions Group. Attendees are encouraged to sign up for the Friday morning 1.5 mile walk. You can register at the TA and Petro booth, and join your fellow drivers in taking a step toward better health.
