Facilitating Your Interactions with TA and Petro Staff Members

When you visit a TA or Petro location to refuel, enjoy a sit-down or quick-serve meal, stop in the travel store, have your truck serviced, access the UltraOne® kiosk, take a shower, reserve parking or just about anything else, computers supplied by the TA Technology Service Center in Knoxville, TN are processing your transactions. Launching this TA and Petro support function from his home garage, Brad Keily has had a front-row seat to the burgeoning technology utilization that is so critical to your 21st Century professional and personal lives. Purchasing, warehousing, staging, software installation, maintaining and decommissioning thousands of computers and peripheral hardware in all operating sectors across the TA and Petro network is no small task.

Since starting in 1998, Keily, the Manager of Technology Support, has been responsible for guiding this important function through several facility and staff expansions to its present size. His staff of nine currently occupies a 16,500-sq.-ft. office and warehouse facility that is a bustling beehive of activity five days a week. The staff includes an assets manager, specialized technicians, shipping-receiving support, and administrative personnel. In simple terms, IT equipment is staged and deployed from Knoxville, and field PC support is provided to TA and Petro site locations.

Seamless Driver Support

Though seamless to you, the IT capability and support that originates from the TA Technology Service Center helps you successfully complete any transaction while you’re on the TA or Petro premises. Things you see or interact with include stationary and hand-held point-of-sale devices, credit card pin pads, and mobile devices used off site for TA Truck Service applications including RoadSquad Connect and mobile onsite service. When you want to redeem UltraONE loyalty points or access the automated shower system, reliability is key. It’s nice to know when scheduling a nice hot shower or reserving a parking space whenever and wherever you wish that a simple, customer friendly interface is there for you.

Behind the scenes, this group focuses on collaborating with TA and Petro engineering and construction teams to establish cabling requirements for new construction, remodels and acquisitions. Coordinating and supervising network infrastructure is also a key responsibility. The simple goal is having the technology in place to expeditiously serve your needs, whether your stop is only for a few minutes, a longer refueling and meal break, overnight, or a mandatory shutdown and HOS reset. Technology along with smiles from TA and Petro staff members can go a long way towards making your time off the road more productive and more enjoyable.
